Originally released in 1998 and reimagined in a massive 2019 remake, Resident Evil 2 is often cited as the peak of the series.

The Story: Set two months after the first game, the "T-virus" has consumed Raccoon City. You follow rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy (on his disastrous first day) and college student Claire Redfield as they meet at a gas station and fight to survive.
The "Zapping" System: A unique feature where playing as one character affects the story and item locations for the other. To see the "true" ending, you must complete both Scenario A and Scenario B.
Mr. X (The Tyrant): The remake made this character legendary. He is an unstoppable, hulking bioweapon that stalks you through the Police Station in real-time. You can hear his heavy footsteps through the ceiling, adding a layer of constant dread.
